Our story
India’s streets, villages and railway platforms are home to one of the world’s oldest dog types: the Indian Pariah Dog, often called the INDog, desi dog or indie. Shaped over thousands of years by climate and by living alongside people rather than by breeders, they are hardy, intelligent, alert and deeply loyal.
Yet good, practical information about them is surprisingly hard to find. Most dog-care advice is written for pedigree breeds in cooler countries. I Love Pariah Dogs started as one adopter’s notebook of what actually worked with her own rescued INDogs, and grew into a place to share that knowledge with anyone who has welcomed — or is thinking of welcoming — a desi dog into their life.
What we hope to do
We want more people to see pariah dogs for what they are: a remarkable native breed, not a second choice. Every article we publish aims to help a dog and its person understand each other a little better, and to make adoption feel less daunting.
